About the Journal
The Praxis Journal
The Praxis Journal is the official academic publication of the UKCESR Portfolio Pathway Association (UKCESRPFPA). Established to support doctors pursuing the Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) and Portfolio Pathway routes, the journal provides a structured, credible platform for academic engagement aligned with the standards set by the General Medical Council and individual Specialty Specific Guidance (SSG).
Our Purpose
The Praxis Journal was founded with a clear mission:
To empower NHS doctors — particularly SAS doctors, locally employed doctors, international medical graduates, and portfolio pathway applicants — to build strong, evidence-based academic portfolios that meet specialist registration requirements.
We recognise that many highly skilled clinicians working within the NHS face limited access to traditional academic routes. The Praxis Journal bridges that gap by offering accessible, structured publication opportunities aligned with CESR and Portfolio Pathway standards.

Our long-term vision is to:
-
Become a recognised academic platform for Portfolio Pathway clinicians
-
Support structured research output within NHS settings

The Praxis Journal exists to recognise and amplify the excellent work already being done within NHS hospitals and departments. Every audit completed, every teaching session delivered, every service improvement initiated — these deserve academic visibility.
We are proud to provide a platform where clinical practice meets academic progression.
