About the Journal
The Praxis Journal is the official peer-reviewed publication of the UKCESR Portfolio Pathway Association. The journal is dedicated to advancing scholarship, professional development, and evidence-based practice among doctors pursuing specialist registration through the CESR (Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) and Portfolio Pathway routes.
The Praxis Journal provides a scholarly platform for clinicians, educators, and healthcare professionals to publish high-quality research, clinical audits, quality improvement projects, case reports, systematic reviews, reflective practice, and educational innovations. The journal particularly supports NHS doctors and internationally trained specialists in building robust academic portfolios aligned with GMC standards and Specialty Specific Guidance (SSG) requirements.
With a strong focus on practical scholarship (“praxis” meaning the application of theory into practice), the journal bridges clinical excellence with academic development. It aims to:
-
Promote research and audit culture among non-training grade doctors
-
Support portfolio-based career progression
-
Encourage multidisciplinary collaboration
-
Provide mentorship opportunities in academic writing and peer review
-
Enhance standards of patient care through knowledge dissemination
The Praxis Journal welcomes submissions across all medical and surgical specialties and prioritises work that demonstrates measurable impact on clinical practice, service improvement, and professional development within the NHS and international healthcare systems.
By combining academic rigour with practical relevance, The Praxis Journal serves as a supportive yet high-standard publishing platform for clinicians striving toward specialist recognition and leadership in healthcare.
